Stone Town Walking Tour – Forodhani Gardens: Located on the seafront since 1936, Forodhani Gardens was established for the silver celebration of King Khalifa. At night, it becomes a major attraction with markets where you can taste the great typical delicacies of the area at absolutely affordable prices.
Old Fort: Once you reach the Old Fort, you will be in the presence of the oldest building in Stone Town. Its architecture dates back to 1698 and 1701 on the ruins of a Portuguese shrine. Today, the fort is home to a lot of street vending activity, as well as theater performances for a few dollars.
In addition, our itinerary includes walking tours so you can get to know, Stone Town in depth to the following attractions: Visit to the Old Customs House, Darajani Market, Christ Church Cathedral and Hamamni Persian Showers.
Prison Island Tour - Is a hidden oasis which has a fascinating history. Famous for its population of Aldabra giant tortoises and the ruins of a former prison and hospital. Prison Island has a sinister history. Prison Island was uninhabited until the 1860s when the first Sultan of Zanzibar, Majid bin Said, gifted it to Arab slave owners who used the island as a prison for rebellious slaves Area.
In 1893, British First Minister, Lloyd Matthews, acquired the island and planned to build a prison on this tranquil outpost. Although the building work was completed in 1894, the prison never housed any inmates.
In the 1920s, Prison Island was transformed into a quarantine island that served British territories in East Africa. The prison buildings were converted into a hospital, and patients were monitored for 1-2 weeks before they were permitted to leave.
Zanzibar’s most talked about sea adventure is, a very special product comprising a full day excursion exploring the very beautiful Conservation area of Menai Bay, south-west of Zanzibar Island. Safari Blue’ departs from the fishing village of Fumba as Fumba is the most convenient location for exploring the wildlife, isolated sandbanks and rugged island scenery of the Menai Bay Conservation Area, we will take you to see the dolphins, sandbanks, islands and coral reefs of Menai Bay. Exploring the sandbanks, islands, lagoons and wonders of the Bay and the Indian Ocean in the comfort of our traditional dhows.
After snorkelling, if the tide permits, we move on to have lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon on a second sandbank near the island of Pungume. The sandbanks have been described by many clients as the most idyllic places in the world. Lunch will be a traditional dish of barbecued fish, rice, lentils and fish curry. Chilled fruit juice, mineral water, and bottled soft drinks are available throughout the tour. Join the crew for a sail on a “ngalawa” a local canoe with outriggers which has been carved from a single mango tree.
